Let's focus on the positives.

The chances of Brandon Aiyuk joining the Washington Commanders are now slim to none following the wide receiver's latest series of social media outbursts, no matter how loudly he begs and pleads.

But if there's any solace to his childish tantrums, it's that the situation has not reflected badly on everybody.

For quarterback Jayden Daniels, this season will be the most important one of his NFL career. It's all about proving his sensational 2024 rookie campaign was not a fluke, after a sophomore slump that saw him miss more than half the season with injuries and regress even when healthy.

Concerns about the sustainability of Daniels' style of play in the NFL are real, and he'll need to silence them. But on the positive side, no one can call his character into question.

Jayden Daniels is navigating the Brandon Aiyuk saga like a pro, and Commanders fans should be grateful

The drama that Daniels' former college teammate has been creating could have become an absolutely disastrous situation for Washington if handled poorly by those within the organization. Instead, it's been mostly silence on the Commanders' part, with no intention to give Aiyuk the attention he desperately craves.

Daniels has now been directly called out by his "friend" multiple times, and his response — or lack thereof — speaks louder than words. The star passer has simply removed himself from the situation, unfollowing Aiyuk on social media and staying silent aside from one vague Instagram story.

After all, Daniels has more important matters to focus on than the Aiyuk distraction.

He's entering a season that could determine whether or not the Commanders are willing to break the bank on a record-setting contract extension. Daniels needs to be able to lock in and build chemistry with the weapons he has, regardless of whether the 2023 second-team All-Pro is one of them.

Surely, Daniels would have loved to see Aiyuk join the Commanders. But he knows the NFL is a business.

He never interfered with the process. He never joined the calls for the San Francisco 49ers to release him and for Washington to sign him. It's not his job, and he understands that.

For all of that, his reward is being made the bad guy by someone who just wants to play the victim in a mess he created. But to all the adults involved, Daniels' colors have shown in the best ways.
