General manager Adam Peters confirmed that the Washington Commanders are still assessing whether or not to bring in another veteran wide receiver before Week 1.
And two training camp practices were all it took for one team insider to throw up the bat signal for Stefon Diggs.
Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic had one big assessment from the opening two sessions. There were no words, no hot takes, and no bold proclamations. Instead, it was a simple GIF featuring Diggs, who has made no secret about his desire for a homecoming to Washington.

Stefon Diggs could be a more realistic option than ever after early Commanders camp signs
It hasn't all been bad.
Dyami Brown and Treylon Burks have reportedly flashed, though the latter was missing from Day 2 with foot soreness. Third-round rookie Antonio Williams has also caught the eye. Jhabvala isn't as confident, and the respected beat writer now clearly believes more is required.
If Jhabvala sees it, Peters probably does too.
Diggs is intrigued by the Commanders. The Maryland native wants to play closer to home at this relatively late stage of his playing career. Several players have thrown their support behind the move, though Peters has not moved on these alluring glances as yet.
And the four-time Pro Bowler is not going to wait around forever.
According to a recent report from ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, at least five teams have checked in on Diggs, who is working hard in readiness for his next opportunity. Whether the Commanders are one of them is undetermined, but they would be wise to act quickly if he is a potential option they're considering.
Looking at the current landscape, there is no doubt Diggs represents an upgrade on anyone outside of McLaurin. Maybe signing him would stunt the development of Washington's young pass-catchers, but if they are not showing enough to inspire confidence, drastic action is required.
There is too much at stake for Washington this season for anything less.
Heads will likely roll if the same problems continue. Diggs might not be the All-Pro force of old, but he knows how to get open. And the fact he went over 1,000 receiving yards on a snap count with the New England Patriots last season makes his possible arrival even more exciting.
It's still early. We're at the bedding-in stage of camp, but Jhabvala was right about the vibes being off last season. She was criticized heavily by sections of the fan base, but she was absolutely spot on in her assessment.
She might be right again.
The Commanders' receiver room has too many questions to leave anything to chance. Another dependable presence is needed, and Diggs just makes too much sense.
