As speculation continues to rise around the Washington Commanders' waiting game with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, other options are coming off the market. Jauan Jennings is no longer an option, and others will soon follow as teams finalize their rosters before OTAs.
General manager Adam Peters should explore different targets. Aiyuk would help if he were fully healthy, but that is not guaranteed. Unless one of the young guns breaks out, Washington will once again be overreliant on Terry McLaurin to produce the goods.
There is a long way to go before Week 1. But that hasn't stopped free-agent signing Charles Omenihu from playing the role of recruiter when it comes to Stefon Diggs.
Stefon Diggs sent Commanders fans into a frenzy with his response to Charles Omenihu
Replying underneath Diggs' Instagram post about where he should go next, Omenihu made his feelings clear. And it received a cryptic response from the wideout that might've sent a message to the Commanders' brass.

Come and get me.
Now, it's worth noting that Diggs has been known to stir the pot with his social media posts. They've generated countless column inches, dating back to his time with the Minnesota Vikings. A homecoming at this stage of his career would no doubt be intriguing. The four-time Pro Bowler was also productive for the New England Patriots last season, going over 1,000 receiving yards as they returned to the Super Bowl.
Diggs would help; there's no getting away from that. However, there are other factors that general manager Adam Peters will take into account before seriously considering this possibility.
Mainly, the off-field concerns.
His recent not-guilty verdict in court changes the conversation, but one doesn't have to look far throughout Diggs' career to see what can unfold when things aren't quite going his way. He's been accused of being a bad teammate, having explosive disagreements with his quarterbacks, and being a general distraction Washington may not want in its locker room.
The buzz has built around Diggs joining the Commanders, though no concrete interest from the club has arisen. It's a heated debate among the fan base, who are split on the issue. Peters might be content with what he has and wait for Aiyuk. But if he wants another capable performer, the former Maryland star is arguably the best available option after Jennings went to Minnesota.
The Commanders wouldn't be alone if they opted to make Diggs an offer. He's got baggage, but most wideouts his age do. He proved last season that there is some good football left and that his presence can help a young quarterback. Teams are willing to overlook other things for that.
Omenihu wants Diggs. Some fans do, too. But that doesn't mean it'll happen.
