There is enormous excitement around Stefon Diggs' long-awaited homecoming. The Washington Commanders finally pulled the trigger after months of speculation, and the veteran wide receiver is wasting no time in making his presence felt despite being new to the franchise.

Diggs worked exceptionally hard during the offseason before his next opportunity arrived. He's experienced enough to prepare effectively, and it's enabled him to hit the ground running in Washington.

Day 10 of training camp was the third practice for Diggs. Based on reports from people watching on, it was easily his best.

His crisp route running and explosiveness are right where they need to be. Diggs gained significant success working the zones, and his early relationship with quarterback Jayden Daniels continues to blossom.

Considering how Diggs is still learning and picking up the nuances of David Blough's offense, the initial signs are encouraging.

The Commanders identified Diggs as the perfect running mate for Terry McLaurin from a long way out. He knows how to get open, thrives under the brightest lights, and is a route technician in the short- to intermediate-area of the field.

This is what fans were hoping to see from the Maryland product. And if this is the start of things to come, Diggs will be a fantastic addition to the ranks.

Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB

The Commanders might not have Laremy Tunsil to depend upon for most of the campaign, but they still have quarterback Jayden Daniels. And based on how he has turned the screw over recent days at training camp, he'll give Washington a fighting chance.

Daniels seems comfortable in the new offensive system installed by David Blough. He is going through his progressions effectively, is making smart choices, and is finding the soft spots in zone well. The former LSU standout also has some intriguing weapons in the passing game this time around, which hasn't always been the case outside of Terry McLaurin.

The No. 2 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft was at his surgical best on Day 10 of training camp, according to those in attendance. Daniels' connection with Stefon Diggs is growing quickly. The signal-caller threw a dime to Dyami Brown, and others also benefited from his accomplished display.

Everyone knows what Daniels can do. Just how much time he'll see on the field during Washington's preseason slate is debatable, but after a constant stream of frustrating injuries last season, minimizing the risk before the real action begins is the primary objective.

Joint practices will probably be enough for Daniels. He might get a series or two along the way, but it's starting to look like Washington's franchise player is ready to make up for some lost time.
