We haven’t reached the playoffs yet, but the stakes are already getting higher. The Washington Football Team plays the 49ers today, in a battle to stay in the hunt.

The Washington Football Team and the San Francisco 49ers are both 5-7, but they’ve been heading in different directions as of late. Washington has won three straight contests, while the 49ers are coming off a double-digit loss to the Bills, having failed to win consecutive games since October.

San Francisco should still be a tough test for the Washington Football Team in the desert; they have Kyle Shanahan coaching them up on offense, and Robert Saleh’s defense has remained respectable amidst injuries. But there’s a path for Washington to win this game. Before the season, we couldn’t have imagined saying that at this point.

It’ll take another solid performance from Alex Smith, and another day of triumph for lesser-heralded players like J.D. McKissic, Cam Sims, and Logan Thomas. It’ll take another stellar showing from the team’s defense, led by its indomitable front seven. It’s a lot to ask for, for a fourth week in a row. But it’s possible.

While Washington plays San Francisco, the Giants will battle another NFC West opponent, sizing up Kliff Kingsbury and the Arizona Cardinals. Washington and New York are currently tied for the NFC East lead, so the results of these two games will be key in determining the Washington Football Team’s fate moving forward.

To watch the game, which kicks off at 4:25 PM, you can view live on FOX Sports, provided that you live in the required areas. If you live outside of the game’s local area, don’t worry: You can also stream it live via online streaming options such as NFL Game Pass and FuboTV.
