The Washington Commanders only selected six players in the 2026 NFL Draft, and the majority of the attention has rightfully gone to No. 7 overall pick Sonny Styles.
The versatile linebacker is the type of player who can transform Washington's beleaguered defense under new coordinator Daronte Jones with All-Pro-caliber play for years to come. Beyond him, third-round receiver Antonio Williams is an intriguing weapon who could be poised for an immediate featured role if the Commanders don't add to their wideout room.
Don't forget about the other skill-position rookie, though. He might just become the fan-favorite darling of the offseason.
Kaytron Allen is eager to impose his will on the Commanders' offense
Sixth-round running back Kaytron Allen wasted no time endearing himself to Washington when he told reporters he prefers to answer to 'Fatman'. Everybody loves an old-school power back with a cool nickname. And Commanders fans will love him even more if he can put his money where his mouth is.
Something he plans to do in no uncertain terms.

Allen is here to take names and chew bubble gum, and he's all out of bubble gum.
He was a four-year high-level producer at Penn State, rushing for more than 4,000 yards over the course of his time in college. As a senior, Allen ran for 1,303 yards and 15 touchdowns, earning second-team All-American honors last season.
Going overlooked until late in Day 3 of the draft before the Commanders came calling only added more fuel to his fire.
Allen's role in the Commanders' offense will likely be similar to Chris Rodriguez Jr.'s last season. He'll be in a committee with the shifty Jacory Croskey-Merritt and pass-catching threat Rachaad White, with Jeremy McNichols and Jerome Ford potentially having opportunities to get involved as well.
Last season, Croskey-Merritt took over the offseason. He went from the final running back selected in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Commanders' leading rusher in a matter of months. If Allen can replicate that success, the dynamic duo of "Bill and the Fatman" will be a sight to behold during the 2026 campaign.
The Commanders' backfield will have a much different look with offensive coordinator David Blough at the controls, as the rookie play-caller will likely try to give everybody their touches. For Allen, a strong impression this summer will go a long way in ensuring he is part of that equation.
And whether on the field or off of it, he's determined to make a statement.
