There has been no sign of Washington Commanders cornerback Trey Amos at training camp yet. Head coach Dan Quinn said his next big assessment will be tomorrow (Thursday) and will determine how far along he is and how much more time he might need before getting the all-clear to resume football activities.
But according to the player, he's ready to go.
Amos posted a picture of himself in Washington's alternate black uniform on Instagram, with YTB Fatt's 'I'm Back' playing in the background. Nothing is confirmed, but it sure sounds like the 2025 second-round pick is expecting good news from his upcoming evaluation.

The Ole Miss product has been out of action since fracturing his fibula in Week 10 against the Detroit Lions. Amos opted not to have surgery, but a soft tissue concern is reportedly keeping him off the field now.
Though mildly concerning, it seems as if Amos is close to getting in some vital work before Year 2 of his professional career.
There are a lot of expectations on Amos' shoulders when he gets back. He's expected to lead the cornerback room, with Mike Sainristil, Amik Robertson, and Rasul Douglas also forming part of the rotation. But if the unit wants to meet its end of the bargain, it needs the No. 61 overall selection from last year to be fit and firing on all cylinders.
The Commanders are taking every possible precaution with Amos, and rightfully so. But the sooner he returns, the quicker he will pick up the new scheme and gain the fitness needed to hit the ground running.

Amos thought he would be ready for the start of training camp. That wasn't the case, but that hasn't stopped him from being bullish once again before another important milestone on his road to recovery.
Having Amos around will completely change the dynamic. He's a physical presence on the boundary. He's impactful against the run with the ability to anticipate things extremely well. And if the Commanders' improved front seven has the desired effect, that's going to make things easier for the entire secondary.
The Commanders won't give Amos the green light before he's ready. But if it were up to the player, he'd be out there sooner rather than later.
After all the injury problems Washington suffered last season, Quinn cannot afford the same to happen this time around. If that means frustrating Amos for a little longer, so be it, but there has to be 100 percent conviction. Otherwise, the risks around something else cropping up will only increase.
Amos seems confident, not for the first time this offseason. Let's see if there is any substance attached this time.
