Stefon Diggs is set to take the field for his first practice with the Washington Commanders after joining the club on a one-year deal worth up to $12 million. But could this move increase the chances of a brotherly reunion in D.C. at some stage?
The Commanders have been constantly touted as a potential landing spot for free-agent cornerback Trevon Diggs, Stefon's brother. Washington hasn't made anything concrete, and general manager Adam Peters has brought in other corners instead. But it certainly became a more intriguing possibility after the wide receiver's long-awaited arrival.
It might not change all that much. But having a family connection around could be highly beneficial.

Diggs wanted a homecoming almost from the moment he was released by the New England Patriots despite going over 1,000 receiving yards. Playing closer to home was something he desired at this relatively late stage of his playing career, and the Commanders eventually obliged. And even though his brother's career path isn't exactly promising right now, the connection with the franchise is there for all to see.
Trevon Diggs emerged into superstardom under head coach Dan Quinn's guidance during his time as Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator. When the respected figure left for Washington, things tailed off dramatically.
Injuries haven't helped the cause. The former Alabama standout hasn't looked like the same player since tearing his ACL, and the Cowboys eventually cut him loose. The Green Bay Packers picked him up late last season, but he failed to make any sort of impact.
The fact that he is still looking for a new home should tell you everything.
Trevon and Stefon are extremely close, but this is all about business. The Commanders also seem well-stocked in the cornerback room right now despite Ahkello Witherspoon's retirement. Considering the money Diggs may want on any new deal, it's no surprise Peters hasn't taken the plunge.

Signing Stefon Diggs was much more beneficial.
He instantly becomes an upgrade on anything outside of Terry McLaurin. Diggs brings a swagger that's hard not to love, and he remains highly productive. Couple this with his reported emergence into the perfect teammate during his only season in New England, and this could be a tremendous addition to the ranks.
Could his brother follow him to Washington? It seems unlikely, but if anyone could help him galvanize what was once a promising career as an All-Pro, it's Quinn and defensive coordinator Daronte Jones.
And maybe getting the chance to play with his sibling could bring the price down.
Time is of the essence for Trevon Diggs. We are now just a few short weeks away from Week 1. If he's not signed soon, it'll be hard to pick things up and make a difference wherever he lands.
At 27, there is still hope. Even so, that has clearly diminished based on how much he's been overlooked throughout the offseason so far.
Stefon Diggs will be worrying about himself. But if a good word on his brother is needed, he'll be more than willing to give it.
But until something emerges, this does look like a pipedream.
