Stefon Diggs came to the Washington Commanders with a big reputation and a point to prove. Even though it's still early days, the four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver has also completely won over the locker room in a short space of time.

Diggs has a stigma around him from the outside looking in. He was labeled as a diva during his early playing career, developing a reputation for making things difficult when things aren't going his way. The reality is very different now, and the Commanders are seeing this for themselves.

Want further proof? Veteran right guard Sam Cosmi is here to provide it.

Stefon Diggs has already changed opinions in the Commanders' locker room

During a conversation with JP Finlay and Washington legend Brian Mitchell on 106.7 The Fan, Cosmi outlined precisely how well Diggs has fit in. His ability to motivate has already come across, and the way he's helping even an established pro like Terry McLaurin has almost taken people aback.

"He talks to the offense, trying to build up as he's rotating in. He's encouraging us to keep going, keep fighting, which has been a good thing to see. He's very intelligent. When he knows the soft spots in coverages, when you hear him talking to Terry (McLaurin), it's been pretty cool to see."

This should be enough to put the fears around Diggs to rest once and for all.

Diggs always wanted his dream homecoming this offseason. The countless public hints were hiding something deeper, with the Commanders keeping in constant contact with the wideout over the offseason. And when the stars aligned, general manager Adam Peters secured a very team-friendly deal.

Obviously, the chatter around Diggs' reputation didn't go unnoticed by his new teammates.

They were waiting to see how he would fit in, and they've been impressed. But after getting some glowing recommendations about his leadership in recent years, especially on the New England Patriots last season, head coach Dan Quinn was expecting nothing less.

Stefon Diggs has already won half the battle to make Commanders' roster

This is always half the battle for any player starting fresh. Win the locker room, and it's all systems go after that. It's not Diggs' first rodeo in that regard, which has enabled him to make the best possible impression over his opening few weeks in Washington.

Cosmi is one of the most respected leaders now. He's unassuming, but he has no trouble raising his voice when it's needed. If the former Texans standout has given Diggs his seal of approval this early, you can bet almost everyone else has followed suit.

Is there a chance Diggs reverts to type if the Commanders struggle? Possibly, but it does seem unlikely.

He's not a young man in NFL terms anymore. Diggs has been around the block a few times, experiencing the highs and lows of being a pro. It's given him added wisdom while also evolving both as a player and a useful asset to call upon away from the gridiron.

It's an immensely encouraging development. Diggs wants to maximize this full-circle opportunity to play closer to home. And in terms of leaving a good first impression, it's mission accomplished.

And hopefully, this trend continues long into the future.
