Commanders news: Jayden Daniels, Bobby Wagner, Jonathan Allen and Dan Quinn

Commanders DT Jonathan Allen's stance
One didn't have to look far across the regional and national media for speculation surrounding Jonathan Allen's future in recent months. The defensive tackle looked extremely frustrated during the previous campaign as another season under Ron Rivera spiraled into the abyss. He even hinted that his future might lie away from the Washington Commanders depending on how Josh Harris' ownership group approached their offseason strategy.
Things look a lot different now. Allen appears happy with the way things are going and the Commanders haven't given any indication they are willing to move the veteran Pro Bowler. He remains a core foundational piece - someone who'll be tasked with providing outstanding on-field production and supreme leadership within the locker room.
When discussing the rumors surrounding his potential departure, Allen drew a line under the chatter based on comments via USA Today Sports. He is thrilled with the current state of affairs and seems to have a new lease of life working with Dan Quinn and his accomplished coaching staff.
"I’m just so happy; I love the coaching staff, I love the direction we’re moving in, I love the way we’re working, man, it has truly been reinvigorating. Just so fun to come to work every day. This is literally just a dream job right now."

Having a motivated, enthusiastic Allen leading the defensive charge is only going to mean good things for the Commanders in 2024. He remains one of the team's best players and among the league's most feared interior defensive linemen when firing on all cylinders. If anyone can help galvanize him to the heights of old, it's Quinn.
What comes after this season is less certain. The 2025 campaign will be Allen's last of his current deal. Therefore, his performance levels will dictate if there is a new contract on the horizon or if his time in the nation's capital will come to an end.
High stakes, indeed.
