Commanders news: Jayden Daniels, Bobby Wagner, Jonathan Allen and Dan Quinn
By Dean Jones
Dan Quinn and his coaching staff are putting the Washington Commanders' new-look roster through their paces during the latest portion of organized team activities. This is the bedding-in period for players as they familiarize themselves with each other and the schematic demands being implemented.
There is a long way to go before Week 1 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rolls around, but the energy is night and day from how things looked throughout Ron Rivera's final preparation period as head coach. Hopefully, this can provide the spark that ignites the Commanders to better fortunes under the new regime.
The media were permitted to attend the practice on Wednesday and as expected, there was a lot to unpack. Among the stories accumulating column inches include Dan Quinn's early objective, Jonathan Allen's commitment following an offseason of speculation to the contrary, quarterback Jayden Daniels continuing to gain support, and Bobby Wagner on the current atmosphere within the organization.
Let's delve into each topic in more detail.
Commanders HC Dan Quinn's ambition
Meshing so many new, different characters to form a cohesive unit is the primary objective for Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn and his staff this offseason. The roster alterations have been nothing short of drastic, so the challenge facing the former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator cannot be overstated with increased expectations about what this team could potentially accomplish under his leadership.
When speaking to the media heading into Wednesday's OTA session, Quinn delved a little deeper into his goal throughout the early stages of preparations. This centers on finding the unique qualities of every player and fitting them into Washington's way of thinking based on comments via the team's website.
"We're trying to find out what unique things a player has and how to feature them. One player may be able to, another player may not. And so, it does take a little bit of exploring, but that's our job as coaches to find any unique traits that the players have."

Quinn is aiming to maximize his second head coaching opportunity and believes he has the personnel to make this happen. He'll need a little bit of luck health-wise, but this mindset is something that should put the Commanders on more solid ground compared to previous methods.
