What bold head coaching hires could the Washington Commanders pursue once the inevitable is confirmed with Ron Rivera in 2024?

It seems like a foregone conclusion that the Washington Commanders will hit the reset button this offseason. Many are anticipating Black Monday to be a bloodbath around the league despite two head coaches already being fired, which will likely include Ron Rivera's dismissal with one year remaining on his deal.

Rivera is reportedly at peace with the job he's done over his four seasons at the helm. He restored order behind the scenes, but no progression on the field and suspect roster building indicate Josh Harris' ownership group will bring landmark changes once the campaign concludes.

The Commanders are allowing Rivera to see out the season, but they should already be examining potential candidates to replace the current head coach. They cannot start from behind with so many others also looking for new men at the helm, although this is a far more coveted destination than previous years with Dan Snyder no longer part of the equation.

If Harris and his wealthy team of investors decide to go bold with their next head coaching hire, here are four names to consider.

Commanders could pursue Brian Flores

This would be a controversial one to many in prominent positions in the league office given Brian Flores filed a class-action lawsuit against the NFL following his removal from the Miami Dolphins. But he deserves credit for building his coaching career back up - first with the Pittsburgh Steelers and as Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator this season.

Flores' blitz-happy defensive approach and hard-nosed methods have gone down well in Minnesota. That's not the case with everybody, but Magic Johnson's influence behind the scenes could lead to an interview at the very least.

It would be a bold move by the Washington Commanders - especially given Josh Harris and his team are new to the ownership circle. However, nothing can be dismissed at this juncture.
