Brandon Aiyuk's desire to join the Washington Commanders is common knowledge by this point. But in case anyone was still in denial, the wide receiver made this crystal clear in his latest Instagram post.
Aiyuk, who is waiting for the San Francisco 49ers to release him, posted a video where he said "Go Commanders" several times, and "Raise Hail" was another statement fans did not overlook. It was another pretty emphatic message about his future plan, which is quickly moving into foregone-conclusion territory.
The Commanders are reportedly interested in Aiyuk, though general manager Adam Peters feels no real need to force the issue. He's aware of the situation and knows the Niners will have no option but to release him at some point. Nobody knows when that will be, but it'll happen eventually.
Brandon Aiyuk is desperate to join the Commanders, and he's making it obvious
While Aiyuk's social media activity suggests that things are progressing, the reality may be far different.

San Francisco seems dug into its stance. Both head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch are bemused and infuriated by Aiyuk's actions. The franchise isn't without blame, but there is no chance they'll find a trade partner now.
Everyone knows Aiyuk is trying to engineer a move to Washington. He is reportedly in shape and wants to play. The Niners hold the cards for now, and with the Commanders traveling to take on San Francisco in Week 6 for Monday Night Football, that's only going to strengthen their resolve.
Aiyuk wants to reunite with quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Commanders are keen, and the need for another productive wideout was laid out in no uncertain terms at minicamp. There is no telling how much the Arizona State product will be able to contribute after missing so much time, but it seems like Washington is going to give him a shot.
It's a gamble. But the rewards could be substantial.
This will be Aiyuk's last chance. He's desperate to join the Commanders, but it probably won't be anything more than a one-year, incentivized deal. If he stays healthy and performs well, Washington will reward him accordingly. But expecting anything less than a short-term agreement just isn't feasible in the circumstances.
Aiyuk laid his cards on the table long ago. The Commanders haven't shown their hand, but that will probably change quickly when his departure from the Niners is confirmed. Until then, it's a waiting game.
Commanders fans are relatively split on Aiyuk. But if Peters believes he can be an asset and not a distraction, he'll be in a Washington uniform sooner rather than later.
And that's been Aiyuk's endgame all along.
