Brandon Aiyuk just made his stance on Commanders painfully obvious

The message was clear, but doe it change anything?

Not a day goes by these days without Brandon Aiyuk making the headlines. The San Francisco 49ers have not done anything with the wide receiver yet, but almost everyone believes he will eventually join the Washington Commanders this offseason.

Aiyuk is reportedly keen on landing with close friend Jayden Daniels in Washington. Any doubts about that were silenced emphatically by the player during his latest social media posts.

It's been an eventful week for Aiyuk. There was a warrant for his arrest on a speeding misdemeanor stemming from a social media video last year. He brushed it off, and it shouldn't matter much in the grand scheme of things. Still, it spoke to another lack of good judgment that seems to be following him around in recent years.

Brandon Aiyuk makes Commanders desire clear with latest social media activity

The former Arizona State star caused another stir. He posed on Instagram wearing a Commanders hat. And in another post, Aiyuk fanned the flames about his desire to reunite with Daniels.

As expected, this caused an inevitable uproar among the fan base. Aiyuk is desperate to get out of San Francisco, but the Niners are not going to do him any favors. Some analysts believe he'll be released quickly if he returns to the facility. Even so, there's little chance of that happening.

The Commanders are caught in the middle, though it's unclear whether general manager Adam Peters will make a move when the time comes. Daniels has been putting in a good word (or several) for the wideout, but acquiring him comes with significant risk.

However, the rewards will be substantial if Aiyuk stays healthy and gets back to anything like his old form.

Aiyuk's latest social media post is pretty telling. He's not happy, and he wants a new lease of life in Washington. But this activity will only dig the Niners deeper into their stance.

This is a tale of leverage and timing. The Commanders are reportedly unwilling to part ways with draft capital to acquire Aiyuk. San Francisco wants something back for its trouble, but the player is refusing to speak with any other clubs about reworking his contract. All signs point to the saga dragging on for a while yet, and emotions are clearly getting in the way of business decisions.

Not ideal, but fans shouldn't have expected anything less.

While Aiyuk is supposedly healthy and ready to play, some are concerned about his mental state. That's justifiable in the circumstances, but there will be nobody better placed to judge than Peters.

Until something gets confirmed one way or another, Aiyuk will wait patiently. But there is no denying his preferred option for what comes next.

It's Washington. And it always has been.
