Brandon Aiyuk has been active on social media over the last week. And for the first time, his latest post outlined his clear frustration with the San Francisco 49ers' handling of his situation.

The Washington Commanders have been heavily linked to Aiyuk, though they reportedly remain reluctant to trade for the wide receiver. The player has made no secret about his desire to reunite with quarterback Jayden Daniels, but the Niners are making things difficult. And considering he is still under contract, they are well within their right to do so.

Aiyuk finally broke his silence on Instagram. And it didn't take long for it to go viral.

Brandon Aiyuk goes scorched earth on 49ers as Commanders rumors swirl

While there were a lot of cryptic messages, you got the sense he thought there was a smear campaign being thrown in his direction. Amid all the reports and the hearsay, he also knows San Francisco is acting this way because the club knows he can still perform at a high level despite missing so much football in recent years.

"Stop running from the belt. That belt coming."

It's an interesting development. But it's not going to speed up the process.

The Niners are holding out for a trade offer that most around the NFL don't believe will arrive. Aiyuk's roster bonus is due just before the 2026 season, so they could keep him on ice all summer before eventually cutting ties.

That would make things more difficult for the Arizona State product to hit the ground running in Washington. However, his previous connection and close bond with Daniels should ensure a quick transition.

Aiyuk was implying that the Niners are delaying the inevitable for no reason other than to restrict his ability to be impactful elsewhere. It's also worth remembering that San Francisco plays Washington in Week 6, which just so happens to be Monday Night Football. This would be an almost immediate clash against the pass-catcher, who wouldn't be lacking in motivation.

The Commanders have not shown their hand as yet. Daniels is reportedly pushing for the move behind the scenes, but general manager Adam Peters won't be giving up a draft pick for someone who'll be released later in the summer. It's a complex situation, but the signal-caller's growing influence behind the scenes could lead Washington to take the plunge on a short-term prove-it deal.

Aiyuk wants out. He is desperate for a fresh start. Just why the Niners are prolonging the agony is debatable, but it's clear they are also harboring plenty of resentment where this drawn-out saga is concerned.

And this outburst isn't going to do Aiyuk any favors whatsoever.
