Football. Is. Back.

Now it’s official. Unless you’re one of those “preseason isn’t football” kinds of people. If you are, you’re not wrong. But this is the closest we’ve come to real football in six months. We’ll take what we can get. The Washington Redskins, however, must know their limits in their first preseason matchup.

After last year’s catastrophic injury debacle, health will be a priority in preseason for Washington. In a time of year where meaningless injuries can take their toll, the Redskins need to get out healthy if they want to have a shot at competing.

That said, there are many players on Washington’s roster who won’t have the luxury of relaxation over the next four weeks. The Redskins have a number of position battles that still need settling, and while preseason might be a mere time-consuming four-game stretch for some players, it’s the last chance at a roster spot for others.

Positions of intrigue include running back, wide receiver, interior offensive line, linebacker, and cornerback, although depth spots will be fought for all across the roster. Some players have their fate in the comfort of their own hands. Others will have to compete with fellow team mates to keep moving forward.

Washington’s first preseason game starts at 7:30 P.M. The opponent is the New England Patriots. To watch the contest, you have a number of methods. If you live in the D.C. area, the game will be broadcast on NBC Mid-Atlantic. If not, you can live stream the game on NFL Game Pass or FuboTV. Redskins Radio is also available; Larry Michael, Chris Cooley, and Doc Walker will be the voices on the airwaves.

Of course, what good is watching the game if you don’t know what to watch for? Luckily for you, we at Riggo’s Rag have amassed a fair amount of game knowledge over the last week. Check out some of the links below!

Yes, it’s only preseason. But football is a step-by-step game, and the preseason, while dangerous and time-consuming, is a necessary step for players who need the opportunity to prove their worth.
