Who wants it more?
Every year the NFL playoffs host a interesting story. Wither its the underdog making a rise, or a team fighting threw adversity. These are the type of stories that live on forever. Nobody has forgotten the 2007 Redskins amazing playoff push, in witch the team overcame the tragic loss of Sean Taylor to go on a win streak with an unlikely 2nd string quarterback named Todd Collins. These are the kind of games that inspire fans and give us hope. Now the next five games will be no easy task for the Redskins, but as oddly as it sounds this team [...]
This team is not the 2005 Washington Redskins
I really thought this was the week, the week where the Skins proved pundits wrong and actually did something that they were supposed to do. Won an important game that they were supposed to win and planted themselves firmly within the playoff hunt heading down the stretch. So many good things happened leading up to the conclusion of Sunday’s game. There was the big win against the Titans, the emergence of Keiland Williams as a consistent running threat for the offense, the whole drama within the Vikings organization, Adrian Peterson’s first half injury, and most importantly the fact that Joey [...]
Redskins Go for the Knockout
Andre Johnson, WR Houston Texans Stephen Jackson, HB St. Louis Rams Michael Vick, QB Philadelphia Eagles LeSean McCoy, HB Philadelphia Eagles Clay Matthews, LB Green Bay Packers Jermichael Finley, TE Green Bay Packers Donald Lee, WR Green Bay Packers Joseph Addai, HB Indianapolis Colts Vince Young, QB Tennessee Titans Adrian Peterson, HB Minnesota Vikings At first glance this may appear to be a list of the NFL’s most promising talent or even a preliminary roster of stars to appear in the 2011 Pro Bowl. The list above is actually an active account of all the “major” players the Redskins have [...]
Stick a fork in these Hogs; they’re done.
By: Sean Mathews It’s not that the Redskins’ playoff hopes are completely finished. They can still conceivably, if not improbably make the playoffs. Here is the problem, and I’m going to be very blunt about it. The Redskins played one solid quarter against a worse than mediocre team led by a man who was probably alive when wooly mammoths roamed the earth; and they failed completely.
The Washington Redskins have shown that they are nothing more than a mediocre team this season. Flashes of brilliance are negated by stupid mistakes and poor execution. Just look at the Minnesota Vikings game for evidence: 1. Anthony Armstrong burns the Vikings secondary down the left side of the field for a huge completion. On the next play, he is hit in the chest with the ball and drops it. 2. Chris Cooley makes a spectacular grab on a third down to continue a drive. During the next series, he is hit in the chest with the ball and drops [...]
Redskins Must Stay The Course
Don’t panic Washington; please don’t panic. The Redskins were a 4-12 team last year. We have 5 already in 2010. I know that the 41 year old wonder gimping into FedEx yesterday and sprinting out with a victory hurt. I also know that the Redskins have been one call or play away from several wins and losses this season. That is why I propose a radical solution to this hysteria; stay the course. Shanahan is a great coach and McNabb is a pretty good quarterback when given time to throw. We have a ton of guys injured and a new [...]
Redskins Shoot Themselves in the Foot….
Now I’m not one to say a team beat themselves but the Redskins definitely did not help their own chances in this game….. Washington came out strong on the opening drive and moved the ball down field (83 yards) with ease running what appeared to actually be a competent offense. They ran the ball with Williams, they let Banks run a couple plays out of the wild cat and they completed passes to 5 different players on their way to scoring a touchdown. They managed to spread the ball around and got their play makers involved. Seeing that drive actually [...]
Vikings vs Redskins: Who Beat The ‘Skins Today?
The Washington Redskins lost today’s game in the 4th quarter. When it counted most, its offense couldn’t score a touchdown and its defense couldn’t get a stop. That’s what most observers will probably say. I contend, however, that they lost it every time a Redskins’ receiver dropped a ball and failed to extend a drive. Santana Moss and Anthony Armstrong, in spite of some key receptions, just didn’t get the job done. This game was winnable. Overall, McNabb performed well under some serous pressure. He dumped the ball off a couple times when he had receivers open down-field, but that’s [...]
WANTED: Perry Riley
I’m sitting here in utter disbelief. We have done it again. The Redskins let another team with a below .500 record hang around and win. The Vikings really didn’t even hang around, they dominated. Adrian Peterson goes down in the 2nd quarter; who cares? Toby Gerhart goes for 80+ and the Vikes out gain the Redskins by 100+ in the rushing department. Another key McNabb interception and the always dependable late penalty lead to another loss. Six losses, five wins. The drive for five begins now. The Redskins must win out for a shot at the playoffs.
