Suspects Held for Questioning in Taylor Shooting
According to the Miami Herald, three men are in custody for questioning regarding the Sean Taylor shooting. Also according to the article, this may have been the result of someone bragging in public about how wealthy Taylor was and telling people where he lived. Now, frankly, this is all a matter of public record so unless the kid said, “oh, and by the way, they don’t have any security and Sean got rid of his guns and only has a machete, and by the way, he’ll be home this weekend” whoever this was didn’t really do anything wrong. But geeze, [...]
Turning a Page…
…without forgetting what was already read. That’s what we’re trying to do today. The Bills are coming whether we’re ready or not. And they aren’t going to go easy on us. They’ll play like Sean did– flat out the whole time. And it is up to Skins fans, Skins players, and the whole organization to rise to the challenge because that’s the only way to keep his memory. If Clinton Portis had died, you can bet Sean Taylor would take it out on the first Bill to present himself. There are a lot of blogs and radio stations talking about [...]
Favorite Sean Taylor Moment
I was tempted to talk about the big hits. I even looked all over You Tube for some good hits and the inevitable tributes. There will be plenty of time for those, and undoubtedly ESPN will show plenty of them including the game saving hit against the Cowboys a couple of years ago. But I wanted to talk about something a little more personal. Because he never talked to the media, we didn’t really know Sean all that well. I feel like if I hung out with Clinton Portis next week, we’d have a lot to talk about even though [...]
Rest in Peace, Sean
I’m sure everybody has heard before now that Sean Taylor died of his wounds last night. I couldn’t actually bring myself to say anything until now. And all I can muster right now is that Riggo’s Rag, its readers, and the entire Redskins community sends its love to the Taylor family, especially his little daughter who will grow up without a dad now. Later today I’m going to make a post sharing my favorite Sean Taylor moments, and I’m hoping you will do the same. Feel free to comment to this post or the next one with any memories of [...]
Taylor Responding to Docs
With a hat tip to Hogs Haven, Jason La Confora of Redskins Insider reports that Sean Taylor is responding to doctor’s requests to open his eyes and squeeze their hands. I’m not a doctor, but that can’t be bad. The most hopeful statement from the article said, “He was responsive to the doctor’s requests to squeeze his hands and showed facial expressions. The doctors were very happy about that,” Cerrato said ” … Two doctors came and told us they were excited about that.” To let you know how bad it was, earlier today people close to situation were told [...]
Two Signs of Encouragement
Two tidbits from a Washington Post article: First police were quoted as saying: “Once he comes to, we can actually put the pieces together.” And Taylor’s grandmother said, “He’s doing pretty good. He’s in critical condition. That’s all the information I have.” Both statements are encouraging. Your grandmother doesn’t say “he’s doing pretty good” when you are in critical condition without the doctors saying positive things. And the police don’t just assume you wake up from this, again, without some good news from doctors. I don’t mean to read too much into it. Sometimes false hope leads to people saying [...]
Taylor Owns Machete
I had not noticed this tidbit in any other story except Yahoo’s version: “Sharpstein said Taylor’s girlfriend told him the couple was awakened by loud noises, and Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection.” I know it isn’t entirely appropriate to talk about this, but forgive me. I use humor as a defense mechanism. Thank god that Sean Taylor wasn’t a step faster, because as a Redskins fan I’d much rather read the headline, “Sean Taylor recovering well from being shot in his home” than the headline: SEAN TAYLOR HACKS MAN TO DEATH WITH MACHETE, CLAIMS [...]
Taylor in a coma?
Some updates on Sean Taylor. First, depending on what source you read he is out of surgery and either unconcious or in a coma. The only sources I can find that say he is in a coma are unreliable or blogs that I find reliable but did not quote their sources. Given that, I’ll refrain from using the term coma until I see a major news agency use it. What is the difference? When you are unconscious, you are essentially sleeping/out of it, but if one uses extreme measures (shaking, pain, etc) you can wake the patient. In a coma, [...]
Taylor Shot
I was going to spend the morning lamenting yet another loss where we were the better team, but it seems inappropriate considering the news that Sean Taylor has been shot and is in critical condition. Taylor was the apparent victim of a home invasion. I say home invasion versus breaking and entering because it sounds more dramatic and journalistic. The truth is Sean did the dumb thing and tried to protect his stuff when the best move would have been to lock the bedroom door, call the police, and hope they get there before you have to defend yourself up [...]
3rd Q Post
I hate those guys who second guess decisions after they already know whether a game is a win or a loss. So I’m taking the time to say it now– win or lose, the decision to go for it on fourth and 1 in Bucs territory was stupid. We needed 10 pts to take the lead anyway. A field goal makes it a one score game. Not to mention that there is actually plenty of time to score two field goals and tie it up that way. Dumb, dumb, dumb. We’ve been moving the ball through the air but not [...]
