Commanders excitement with Chase Young

Chase Young is looking to silence increasing doubters and prove beyond all doubt he can fulfill some lofty expectations coming out of college in 2020. Much was made about the defensive end skipping OTAs, but it's clear he's been working hard away from the facility based on his impressive opening to mandatory minicamp.

Young looks explosive and eager to make his mark. The former Ohio State phenom is sporting a knee brace and the Washington Commanders are taking things extremely cautiously at this stage of the preparation period, but it's been great to see him back after a turbulent two years.

When asked about Young during his recent press availability, Ron Rivera stated via Brian Manning of USA Today Sports that there was an enormous sense of excitement about the edge defender. Something that can hopefully progress as the summer practices enhance.

"He looked good. He really did. Real excited about it. Looks like he’s got some explosion back, which was one of the really neat things in terms of watching him, his get off. He looks like he’s more confident."

There are some rumors still circulating regarding a potential trade for Young, which does appear unlikely all things considered. The Commanders want to see a return on their investment, but keeping the pass-rusher healthy is the glue that holds this potential upside together.
