Commanders sale edge closer after meeting
Josh Harris and Mitchell Rales entered their meeting with the NFL's finance committee looking to make the document alterations needed to get this transaction over the line. Based on the mood after their lengthy 2.5-hour discussions, this saga could end in the coming weeks.
According to multiple reports after the meeting, everything seemed on track to potentially bring the $6.05 billion sale of the Washington Commanders to a formal vote among other owners in late June or July. Something that was also confirmed by Indianapolis Colts owners Jim Irsay, who stated via John Keim and Stephen Holder of ESPN that even though there were still some slight elements to work out, there is hope everything will proceed as expected.
"It's going well. I'm hopeful because of their inspired aspect and their enthusiasm and their track record that they're really committing, saying, 'Well if that doesn't work then I'll make it right. Either way, we're going to make it right.' So we're just trying to work through those final details. And I'm hopeful that we'll be able to. I would imagine something in mid to late July would be the earliest we'd call it league meeting."

Harris' ownership group has committed to making the changes needed to move the purchase along. Irsay also confirmed that the number of partners also complies with NFL rules, which was reported accurately by A.J. Perez of Front Office Sports when some doubts surfaced.
This represents another positive step in the right direction for fans. And it won't be much longer before the real celebrations can begin.
