Emmanuel Forbes brings elite traits to Commanders

Emmanuel Forbes was always the Washington Commanders' guy, it seems. The ballhawk cornerback is a phenomenal talent that can flip the field with ease, but the selection at No. 16 overall hasn't been universally approved by the widespread media in the week after it was officially confirmed.

This criticism - which some even compared to the Philadelphia Eagles' decision to select Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson - stems from Forbes' lack of bulk. However, this didn't stop the defensive back from making game-changing plays in the SEC, which has been an elite pro talent pipeline for years.

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports was keen to focus on the positives when discussing Forbes recently. The writer acknowledged potential durability concerns but projected the corner to be an elite coverage presence with a smooth transition from the collegiate ranks.

"I love this kid. He has good length, but he is lean at 170 pounds. Even so, he will throw his body around. But you draft him because he's an elite cover player who fills an immediate need. He is going to upgrade an already good defense. "

The former Mississippi State star is going to put on muscle mass not only this offseason but in the years ahead. Considering how high the Commanders were on bringing him into the fold throughout their evaluations, they've likely already devised a concise plan to ensure minimal complications emerge.
