Bold predictions for every Commanders draft pick in 2023
By Dean Jones
Braeden Daniels - Commanders OL
- Primary swing option from Week 1
Position versatility is the primary focus of Ron Rivera's recruitment across the offensive line. This is something he values highly and was once again evident during the 2023 NFL Draft.
Braeden Daniels is exactly the sort of prospect Rivera has sought since taking over as Washington Commanders' head coach. The former Utah star played at the tackle spot throughout his college career, but many believe his lack of size could mean a switch to the interior is in the player's future.
If Daniels adjusts well throughout the preparation period, becoming Washington's primary swing option across multiple spots is a bold but realistic target.
Ricky Stromberg - Commanders C
- Week 1 starting center
There is some pressure on Ricky Stromberg to make an immediate impact. The Commanders ignored some top-level interior talent in the second round in favor of another defensive back, so the need to hit the ground running is obvious where the center is concerned.
Those in power were highly impressed by Stromberg during their pre-draft assessments. If this trend continues in the coming months, then becoming the team's Week 1 starter cannot be ruled out.
This would allow the Commanders to put Nick Gates in one of the guard positions. It might also spell the end of Chase Roullier's time with the organization.
