Bold predictions for every Commanders draft pick in 2023

The Washington Commanders picking Quan Martin over some top interior offensive line talent such as O'Cyrus Torrence and John Michael Schmitz was bizarre to many. Especially considering the team spent the No. 16 overall selection on cornerback Emmanuel Forbes.

Washington is expecting big things from Martin right out of the gate. Starting him as their slot/nickel cornerback might enter consideration with a smooth training camp, which would provide an extra level of aggression and physicality to the position that was sorely missing in 2022.

If Martin starts the entire season and gains four interceptions, it would justify the pick and also provide the one-time Illinois stud with an exceptional foundation to build a prolific NFL Career.

These are bold predictions, right?

Emmanuel Forbes was always the guy at No. 16 overall based on the comments from those in power after the pick became official. There are some concerns about his weight, but his ballhawk capabilities and explosive approach are exactly what Washington required for their cornerback room heading into the 2023 season.

Forbes has performed at a high level within the SEC throughout his time at Mississippi State. His natural instincts are absolutely off the charts and if he brings this to the Commanders, an outstanding rookie campaign will follow.

Eight interceptions, a Pro Bowl selection, and winning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year might seem like a stretch. But there's no doubt Forbes is setting himself some high goals as the defensive back looks to repay the faith shown in him by Ron Rivera.
