Tyler Biadasz - Commanders C

The Washington Commanders need their offensive line to be more consistent next season. Adam Peters is more confident than most after reinforcing the ranks this offseason. That's not an opinion shared by some fans, who harbor concerns about this unit and whether they can do enough to protect rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels in 2024.

Tyler Biadasz's imposing start to life with the Commanders provides confidence. The center joined from the Dallas Cowboys in free agency after getting a glowing recommendation from Dan Quinn. We're still in the infancy of camp, but the player's done nothing to suggest he cannot become a significant upgrade to the offensive line anchor role.

Biadasz's pre-snap communication and developing chemistry with Daniels is encouraging. There's also been plenty to like about his ability as a run blocker according to those in attendance. With plenty of proven production and experience under his belt, the former Wisconsin star could have a big future in Washington.

Other positions on Washington's protection come with more doubts. However, it seems like the Commanders have something dependable on their hands in Biadasz based on opening impressions.

Emmanuel Forbes Jr. - Commanders CB

There was nobody under more scrutiny than Emmanuel Forbes Jr. heading into Washington's training camp in 2024. The cornerback needed to bounce back after a horrific rookie campaign. It's early in the process, but optimism is growing after an encouraging start.

Forbes seems to have bulked up throughout the offseason. The former first-round pick revealed he'd put on 17 pounds to cope better with the physical aspect of playing the position. Washington's staff is giving the defensive back all he can handle right out of the gate. This involves locking horns with Pro Bowl wide receiver Terry McLaurin frequently.

McLaurin is a tough proposition for anyone to overcome. However, Forbes is more than holding his own so far according to those in attendance. Much will depend on how he fares when the pads go on, but there's a lot to like about his improved production and enhanced physical appearance.

The Commanders have been starting Forbes on the outside opposite Benjamin St-Juste in their core base defense. Michael Davis is also getting plenty of work with the first unit, so complacency cannot become an issue for the Mississippi State product in pursuit of altering some harsh perceptions next time around.
