7 Commanders players already turning heads at 2024 training camp
By Dean Jones
The Washington Commanders are still in the early period of training camp ahead of the 2024 season. However, players have already begun to impose themselves in differing capacities to hit the ground running under the new regime.
There is a lot on the line for most of the Commanders players right now. Adam Peters' roster overhaul increased competition. Dan Quinn and his staff are raising standards and accepting nothing less than excellence. Anyone not pulling their weight will see roles diminish and roster spots in jeopardy.
First impressions are everything. Quinn is giving everyone a chance to prove their worth. This will continue throughout camp and the preseason before the time for final cuts arrives. If those in power aren't truly convinced, they've got the financial resources to pick up better options via free agency or the waiver wire as the No. 2 priority.
For now, those currently on the squad are taking center stage. With this in mind, here are seven Commanders players who are already turning heads at the team's training camp in Ashburn.

Kazmeir Allen - Commanders WR/KR
Kazmeir Allen starred throughout his first offseason with the Washington Commanders in 2023. It wasn't enough to make the 53-man roster, but the former undrafted free agent secured a place on the practice squad and impressed enough to get another look under Dan Quinn's new coaching regime.
Allen's eager to go one better this time around. He's caught the eye frequently over the opening stages of camp, displaying assured hands in the passing game and elusiveness with the football in his hands for good measure based on the musings of those in attendance.
There are a couple of open spots within the wideout room looking at how things stand currently. Allen's done his chances of consideration a tremendous amount of good. There is also a long way to go with plenty of twists to come.
Couple this with his prowess in the kick return game - which could come in handy thanks to the new NFL rules - one couldn't dismiss the possibility of the UCLA product making the team if the same trend continues in the coming weeks.
