4 critical observations from Commanders 2023 rookie minicamp
By Dean Jones
What were some criticial observations to emerge from another eventful rookie minicamp for the Washington Commanders ahead of the 2023 season?
While there was obvious attention elsewhere, the Washington Commanders began molding first-year players ahead of the 2023 campaign at the team's rookie minicamp. Whether they were picked during the process, signed in undrafted free agency, or simply attended for a tryout, it was a clean slate for all before embarking on the first stage of their professional journeys.
Much like most of this offseason, the sale distraction didn't seem to bother Ron Rivera and his staff all that much. He had a clear message for every player in attendance, which centered on listening, committing to the cause, and asking for help is better than being unprepared.
This was a solid platform for most as they gear up for OTAs with more established figures within the Commanders. But for some, this will be the end of the road.
With that being said, here are four critical observations to take from Washington's rookie minicamp in 2023.
Critical Observation No. 1
Jadakis Bonds enhanced Commanders chances
It might not come with a concrete offer, but perhaps no player did more to help their chances of further involvement throughout the team's rookie minicamp than Jadakis Bonds. The wideout made a series of splash plays and picked things up extremely well to stand out considerably.
The Commanders are stacked at the wide receiver position, which doesn't help Bonds' cause. Regardless of what comes next, the player can look back at his performance levels with an enormous sense of pride.
