4 critical observations from Commanders 2023 OTAs Day 3

Commanders QB Sam Howell must work on his touch
Sam Howell has a live arm. there's no getting away from that. The quarterback demonstrated real velocity to his distribution throughout the offseason so far, which can hopefully be molded into a productive NFL-caliber presence under center by the time Week 1 rolls around.
The Washington Commanders are betting big that Howell can become their long-term solution at football's most prestigious position. But free-agent signing Jacoby Brissett is the dependable cover option who Ron Rivera will have no hesitation throwing in if he feels like it's the best way to win during a critical campaign for the head coach.
According to those in attendance on Thursday, Howell had no trouble getting the football out quickly and his release is fine. But there was something missing on his touch that could cause concern if not properly addressed.
This is the feeling-out period of the offseason, so it's understandable to see a few kinks here are there. Especially for a second-year pro such as Howell with a distinct lack of experience running with the first-team unit.
Eric Bieniemy was also less than thrilled about the number of drops from Washington's pass-catchers throughout the session. So upon further examination, there is an awful lot to clean up.
