What are some of the most underrated moves made by the Washington Commanders during a highly-eventful 2023 off-season for the franchise?
The drama rarely stopped coming for the Washington Commanders this offseason. While it was a modest one in terms of recruitment with little in the way of financial flexibility, everyone couldn't keep their eye and ears off what was transpiring throughout a busy spring.
Ron Rivera kept focusing primarily on football and his current roster-building plan. But fans who'd grown beyond disenchanted by the inept management of team owner Dan Snyder spanning almost 25 years eagerly awaited developments to remove the disgraced billionaire from the equation.
Thankfully, that should happen in the coming days. Josh Harris' ownership group look set to get their $6.05 billion purchase of the Commanders approved by owner NFL owners on July 20, which brings the curtain down on Snyder's disastrous tenure and signals a fresh beginning for everyone involved.
Again, this will be inconsequential to Rivera - even though it'll pile on the pressure to finally get things right next season. Harris looks set to give those around a chance to prove themselves, but the head coach is all too aware that the margin for error is slim and the repercussions for failure will be severe.
