A close associate of Josh Harris expects his passion to bring about some quick fixes for the Washington Commanders once the sale gets formal approval.

The countdown is ticking towards a landmark day in Washington Commanders franchise history next month. NFL owners will come together on July 20 and are expected to formally approve the $6.05 billion purchase that brings in Josh Harris' ownership group and rids the league of Dan Snyder once and for all.

This is going to and has already sparked jubilant scenes among the team's long-suffering fanbase. Snyder brought almost nothing positive to the organization over the last 24 years and going out in utter disgrace only seems fitting for someone who's been a stain on Washington football almost from the moment he arrived.

Unfortunately for Harris and his team of investors - which also includes Magic Johnson, Mitchell Rales, and other influential business figures - Snyder is leaving behind a tremendous mess to clean up. Matters such as the new stadium, repairing the Commanders' reputation within the community, and regaining fan trust are just some of the pressing matters that require attention - and that's without considering potential changes on the football side of things.

Commanders can expect quick progress under Josh Harris

Harris is from the area and has experience running successful franchises in different sports. This should give him a head start despite the monumental challenge that awaits, with Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin - who is a close associate - expecting his friend to hit the ground running based on comments via FOX News.

"I expect fast progress from Josh [Harris]. Josh is a beast. He’s nonstop, he works 24/7. This has been his dream. This is the city he grew up in. I think, to be honest, there’s a lot of low-hanging fruit. I expect fast results from Josh, and I think the community is going to rally around him. I couldn’t be more excited for all the Commanders fans and what Josh can do for the team."

There's no doubt Harris has the credentials to make a real go of this and restore pride back into the Commanders. That might mean some sacrifices here and there, but that's not out of the ordinary when a new ownership consortium comes in with its own set of ideas on how to take things forward.

The potential is obvious if Harris' group turns the Commanders around. This is a franchise steeped in rich football heritage with a large fanbase who've looked the other way en masse thanks to Snyder's incompetence and the toxic culture he helped build.

Ticket sales have reportedly increased significantly ahead of this change. And one suspects the atmosphere at FedEx Field in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals to begin the 2023 campaign will be emotional and electric in equal measure.

When it's all said and done, this could be the tipping point that finally propels the Commanders back to the NFL's top table. It's not going to happen overnight, but as the old saying goes - Rome wasn't built in a day.

Rubin has been around Harris enough to know how he operates. This glowing recommendation should do nothing to diminish excitement about one of the biggest franchise alterations in a generation.
