The moment of truth has arrived for the Washington Commanders. Head coach Dan Quinn's couldn't have asked for a tougher start to the campaign, which begins in Week 1 with an all-too-familiar trip to the Philadelphia Eagles.
This is a bitter division rivalry. Being on the road makes it tougher, so only strong resolve and effective execution will suffice. Anything less, and the Commanders will have a real problem on their hands.
However, there is hope.
Washington has the element of surprise with two new coordinators. The defense should be much improved, and the offense has also been upgraded. How quickly they can put everything together remains to be seen, but the Eagles are a formidable opponent with very few weak links.
A fascinating afternoon awaits. Before then, here are the odds and prop bet markers for Washington's season opener in Philadelphia.

Commanders at Eagles odds for Week 1
The Commanders face a stern test of their credentials to begin the season. Lincoln Financial Field isn't the most hospitable venue for opposing teams, but Washington knows plenty about that.

- Washington +5.5 points: -105 (bet $105 to win $100)
- Philadelphia -5.5 points: -115 (bet $115 to win $100)

Jayden Daniels prop bets
This is a massive year for Jayden Daniels. He's had to deal with plenty of criticism and ridicule throughout the offseason, stemming from his injury-hit 2025 campaign and his NIL dispute with LSU.
Now, he gets the chance to shut everyone up in an offense that looks much better suited to his skill set.
Daniels has to make a good early impression against the Eagles. It won't be easy, especially if the offensive line doesn't meet expectations. But if everything around the signal-caller is even adequate, the No. 2 pick in 2024 can keep this closer than most people think.
FanDuel Sportsbook placed Daniels' over/under for passing yards in Week 1 at 205.5. This is available at -113 in both directions (bet $113 to win $100). His over/under for passing touchdowns is 0.5.
- Over 0.5 passing touchdowns: -225 (bet $225 to win $100)
- Under 0.5 passing touchdowns: +168 (bet $100 to win $168)
