Third-year quarterback Jayden Daniels has had one mission in mind this offseason. He wants to get the Washington Commanders back to where they belong, and he wants to remind the world why he was the No. 2 pick who became an elite rookie.
And during a prolific joint practice against the Miami Dolphins, fans got another glimpse of this relentless intent.
Daniels was nothing short of outstanding throughout the session. The Commanders dominated proceedings, easily getting the better of a team that is expected to struggle this season. There were a couple of concerns to emerge, but the signal-caller was not one of them.

The timing. The comfort within new offensive coordinator David Blough's system. The tempo at which he was going about his business. The confidence. Everything was right where it needed to be at this time of year, and if the same trend continues, those who've written him off are going to look extremely foolish.
The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner has worked exceptionally hard on honing his craft. Daniels took it upon himself to develop chemistry on and off the field with his pass catchers, and it's had the desired effect. Washington's offense is in sync, and even though it's only the Dolphins, it represents the biggest positive imaginable.
His instant connection to recent signing Stefon Diggs is just an added bonus on Daniels' road to potential redemption.
Daniels was stung last season, humbled by a series of nagging injuries when it looked like he was on the fast track to superstardom. It's the first time he's dealt with any real adversity in the NFL. And fortunately for the Commanders, the response has been emphatic.
This was a masterclass from Daniels. It was immediately followed by reports of a dispute with LSU about NIL. But quite frankly, that is none of the Commanders' concern.
All they care about is winning, growing, and keeping their franchise player healthy. And everything couldn't be going much better on those fronts.
When Daniels finds his groove, he is an absolute surgeon. The dynamic dual-threat is now operating within a scheme designed to suit his strengths, featuring more under-center work, play action, and taking what the defense gives him. He doesn't have to be a hero anymore, which is always the best way to improve longevity.
Most telling of all? Daniels has his swagger back. And as Commanders fans got to see for themselves during a 2024 campaign for the ages, that is always a dangerous thing.
Daniels has set the table for what's to come. He's got momentum on his side again, and this is the best supporting cast Washington has ever put together for him.
