Jeremiyah Love is one of the most talented and fascinating prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft. Some believe the Notre Dame running back will go as high as No. 3. Almost everyone believes the Washington Commanders will be his floor at No. 7.

Love has stated his excitement at potentially forming a backfield tandem with quarterback Jayden Daniels. Just how likely that is remains to be seen, but one respected insider thought there was a daring move general manager Adam Peters could make to ensure he gets the best offensive prospect in this class.

Jason La Canfora, who is FanSided's national NFL insider, had the Commanders taking Love in his final mock draft of the 2026 cycle. However, it wasn't at No. 7.

Jason La Canfora has Commanders swapping spots with the Browns for Jeremiyah Love

It was at No. 6, with Peters striking a trade with the Cleveland Browns after Love fell out of the top five selections.

"There will be teams interested in some offensive players if the board goes this way. Pairing [Jeremiyah] Love with Jayden Daniels is exactly what Washington needs."

La Canfora did not reveal any trade terms. The Commanders don't have second or fourth-round picks this year, so any move up might be difficult. But swapping spots with the Browns might not cost all that much in the grand scheme of things.

And if it gets them a generational difference-maker in Love, it might be a risk worth taking from Peters' perspective.

According to the Fitzgerald-Spielberger NFL Draft Trade Value Chart, the No. 6 pick (2,092 points) and the No. 7 pick (2,014 points) have similar value. The Commanders wouldn't have to part ways with much to tempt Cleveland, which could be a sixth-round selection in this scenario. However, if the Browns are looking to move back, they might want to extract maximum value by identifying teams in the teens who want to surge themselves up the pecking order.

That's much more valuable to a rebuilding franchise. So it might cost even more than a Day 3 pick if the Commanders go down this route.

Love would instantly become among the highest-paid running backs in the NFL if he's taken in the top four. If the Cardinals and Tennessee Titans pass, the New York Giants could pair him with Jaxson Dart. It'll be an anxious wait, but Peters will have contingencies in place if the Heisman Trophy finalist doesn't make it to them.

But if he gets within reach, and all it'll take is a sixth-round pick to jump the queue, Peters might pull the trigger.
