Brandon Aiyuk and the Washington Commanders remain hotly linked. The media can't get enough of the wide receiver's possible reunion with quarterback Jayden Daniels, but there has been no real movement from either party's original stance.

That didn't stop one analyst from highlighting a potential upcoming date that could shift the landscape, potentially ending this saga for good.

Aiyuk won't play for the Niners again. Bridges have been burned, and the bitterness is glaring. This situation has gone completely past the point of no return, but San Francisco is holding onto the hope that a trade suitor can be found.

NFL analyst believes Commanders must reconsider Brandon Aiyuk trade stance after June 1

Though the Commanders are reportedly unwilling to give up a late-round pick to secure Aiyuk's services, Kristopher Knox of The Bleacher Report believes the upcoming June 1 date could make it more viable from a financial standpoint. This would also get the wideout into the building for a full offseason with his new teammates.

"The Washington Commanders need a reliable receiver opposite Terry McLaurin, but they didn't add one before drafting Antonio Williams in the third round. However, trading for Brandon Aiyuk could help address this particular need.

"Washington may have to wait until after June 1 to add Aiyuk, due to the financial implications, but it should make that move as soon as possible."

This does make sense, but general manager Adam Peters also has conviction in his decision-making process. If he believes that waiting for Aiyuk to be released is the better option, even if that may be months away, then he won't hesitate to play the waiting game.

Most around the league still believe Aiyuk will land in Washington. Some, including NFL insider Jordan Schultz, are no longer convinced. The Commanders need more in their receiver room, but there are other options available if the Niners don't cut him loose quickly.

It wouldn't take much to expedite this process. The Niners want anything and would probably be willing to accept a seventh-round pick to get this problem out of the organization. That would be a bargain if the pass-catcher could regain his 2023 form, but that is far from guaranteed.

Aiyuk has missed a ton of football with knee complications. While he might be fit and ready to play, according to reports, it'll take a long time to get back into genuine football shape. Previous chemistry with Daniels should help, but that is just a small part of this equation.

It would be surprising if the Commanders traded for Aiyuk at this stage. But things will become clear on that front after June 1.
