There doesn't seem to be a day that goes by without wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk outlining his disdain for the San Francisco 49ers or outlining his desire to join the Washington Commanders. And it shows no signs of slowing down.
Aiyuk once again took to Instagram to portray his feelings about the situation, as if that were needed. But what his latest post confirmed was his belief that, as soon as San Francisco cuts ties, he'll be signing with the Commanders.
The former Arizona State star almost dared the Niners to part ways with him, which seems like a done deal at some stage. Aiyuk isn't bluffing; that much is clear. And when general manager John Lynch does cut him loose, the wideout's next move will be to discuss a reunion with quarterback Jayden Daniels in Washington.
Brandon Aiyuk calls 49ers' bluff with another Commanders statement
Nothing we didn't already know, but it'll be interesting to see how long the Commanders wait after Aiyuk and the Niners go their separate ways.

Aiyuk is reportedly healthy, but he has not played since Week 7 of the 2024 season. It'll take time to find his sharpness again, so the sooner Washington gets him into the building, the better. But as has been the case throughout this soap opera, the Niners can drag this out right until Week 1.
That notion has diminished slightly in recent weeks.
Some respected insiders now report that Aiyuk's departure will occur before training camp. He's probably hurt his chances of that with his social media outbursts, and tight end George Kittle's comments firmly hinted that he no longer considers him a teammate.
Where the Commanders fit into all this remains to be seen.
General manager Adam Peters knows him well. He will be getting a good indication of Aiyuk's mindset and health from Daniels. There hasn't been any real urgency behind the persistent rumors, but most still anticipate he'll be in a Washington uniform when the time is right.
Anatgonizing the Niners isn't exactly a smart strategy from Aiyuk. Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan have already taken this saga personally, stung by how the pass-catcher has treated them after they made a lucrative financial commitment to him. Fanning the flames will only increase their resolve.
They know Aiyuk is trying to engineer a move to the Commanders. They know he's got a close bond with Daniels. Peters is staying out of it, unwilling to burn any bridges. That is the right call, which could also prevent allegations of tampering from surfacing if the Niners decide to be especially petty.
It's a messy situation, getting messier by the day. Aiyuk is desperate for his release, and the Niners haven't blinked yet. As for the Commanders? They continue to bide their time, but their hand has not been shown for sure.
Aiyuk is doing that for them.
