Adam Peters just gave the Jayden Daniels update that should terrify the NFL

Jayden Daniels is ready.

Jayden Daniels didn't enjoy the best of fortunes during the 2025 campaign. The Washington Commanders had their star quarterback available for only seven games, and he completed just four. That wasn't what anyone had in mind, and the team capitulated accordingly.

Daniels is eager to change the tide. And according to the glowing reference of general manager Adam Peters, the entire league should be on notice.

While the offseason is all about rest and recuperation, Daniels had something else in mind. He's been working hard to ensure he is ready to hit the ground running. It's all systems go for the signal-caller, who looks primed for a bounce-back campaign with some better luck on the health front.

Peters is convinced. He revealed that Daniels has been grinding during his time away from the club. He's made it a priority to remain focused, setting the tone for others to follow. And the Commanders' front-office leader believes big things are ahead now that the former LSU star is healthy.

“He's already jump-started it, he's had an incredible offseason. He's really been diligent about working this offseason. He's been out in L.A. But he's working with his trainers out there, with his throwing coach, and he's in great shape. He looks great. He feels great. He's healthy.”

Last season was disappointing. At the same time, there is no point in looking back. Daniels is intent on what comes next, which will hopefully involve spearheading the Commanders back into playoff contention.

Whether the Commanders have enough around him remains to be seen. The offensive line looks strong, and the running back unit could be productive as a by-committee approach. Washington has a new pass-catching tight end in Chig Okonkwo, and third-round wide receiver Antonio Williams should be able to feature prominently with a smooth transition.

That may not suffice, but Peters has enough money and several options available if he decides more is needed.

Daniels propelled himself into the borderline elite category as a rookie, putting together a first year for the ages. He was forcing things too much last season, and he paid the price. Now, with a full offseason to heal and a new scheme being implemented by offensive coordinator David Blough, all signs are pointing up once again.

Of course, it's a precarious situation. There are now doubts around Daniels when once there was nothing but unrivaled optimism. But given how competitive he is, and how much last season no doubt stung, it would be deeply disappointing if significant improvements didn't arrive.

Peters didn't hide his confidence. Fans are also expectant. But there will be nobody putting more pressure on themselves than Daniels.

And if he delivers, a megabucks extension could be on the way in 2027.
