Commanders could sign Cam Robinson

The Washington Commanders have a legitimate bookend tackle tandem that can provide the platform for quarterback Jayden Daniels to flourish. Even so, the depth behind Laremy Tunsil and Josh Conerly Jr. is a little worrisome.

Tunsil played at an All-Pro level last season following his high-profile trade to Washington. He was rewarded handsomely with a lucrative contract extension this offseason, and the Ole Miss product has set the correct tone for others to follow over early workouts.

Conerly put in significant work away from the team this offseason, and it shows. He's more defined, much more explosive, and he's leaning on Tunsil heavily. They worked out together away from the team, and the veteran has taken on a mentor role to ensure the 2025 first-round pick reaches his ceiling.

The Commanders extended Andrew Wylie, who should be the swing tackle capable of playing almost anywhere along the offensive line. Trent Scott has experience at tackle, but Foster Sarell's struggles over Washington's mandatory minicamp may dictate that more is needed.

Someone like Cam Robinson makes sense. He didn't last long with the Houston Texans last season, but he showed slight signs of life with the Cleveland Browns. It's surprising to still see him sitting on the market, so if he is willing to accept a backup role, this could be a potential upgrade for the Commanders.

Commanders could sign Sterling Shepard

As mentioned previously, the Commanders have questions at wide receiver behind Terry McLaurin. Adam Peters seems satisfied with what he has right now, but some reporters in attendance at Washington's mandatory minicamp noted concentration issues that could provoke a shake-up.

Obviously, it seems almost like a foregone conclusion that Brandon Aiyuk will land in Washington between now and Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He's made his intentions clear about what comes next when the San Francisco 49ers eventually cut ties. When that'll be is anyone's guess, but the Commanders are not forcing the issue.

Even that might not be enough.

Aiyuk has missed a lot of football, so it might take him some time to get up to speed. Unless one of the young pass-catchers makes a standout impression, Peters may have no option other than to seek more veteran assistance.

If the Commanders want a cost-effective solution over someone like Stefon Diggs, perhaps Sterling Shepard could be a good fit. He's been a steady performer throughout his career, is well-versed in NFC East rivalries after spending the first eight years of his career with the New York Giants, and knows how to create separation.

This may not be considered a legitimate needle-mover, but Shepard has more proven production than anyone on Washington's roster outside McLaurin.
