3 best prop bets for Commanders vs Titans in Week 5
By Jerry Trotta
The Washington Commanders will return home in Week 5 after falling on the road against the Dallas Cowboys. After two straight clunkers against division rivals, fans are hopeful the team is more competitive against a Tennessee Titans squad that’s nowhere near the playoff lock they were in previous years under Mike Vrabel.
Unfortunately, these are teams heading in opposite directions.
The Commanders have been outscored 49-18 in their last two games, while Tennessee has rattled off two straight wins against a talented Raiders team and Indianapolis on the road to claw back from an 0-2 start to the season.
Taking that into account, it’s no surprise the Commanders opened as home underdogs to the reigning AFC South champs. For any fans looking to place a little action on the game, here are our top prop bets for this cross-conference battle.
3 best prop bets for Commanders vs Titans in Week 5
3. Cam Sims anytime touchdown scorer (+550)
Curtis Samuel’s absence from practice this week has been a little jarring. It’s not COVID related, which is a relief, and he returned to practice Friday and was removed from the injury report. But you have to wonder if he’ll be 100% recovered come Sunday. Don’t be surprised if the receiver’s snaps are limited.
Sims has a propensity for stepping up when players go down and he has +550 odds to score a touchdown against a Titans secondary that can’t help but surrendering passing scores. Entering Week 5, Tennessee’s 10 passing touchdowns allowed are tied with Washington and Kansas City for the most in the NFL.
Dyami Brown might be Samuel’s like-for-like replacement in terms of position and snap share, but Sims is a beast in the red zone. At +550 odds, you can win $550 (!) by placing a $100 wager. How can you say no to that?
2. Antonio Gibson anytime touchdown scorer (+150)
It’s not quite +550 odds, but the fact Gibson is plus money to find the end zone is pretty fascinating. The third-year running back’s been running hard the last couple games, even though his stats (3.3 YPC for the season) suggest otherwise.
Gibson’s manufacturing positive yards in crowded areas and would have better numbers if the passing game posed any semblance of a threat. As a result, Gibson is facing crowded boxes, making it harder to rip off big gainers.
Look for Gibson to break out in a big way vs the Titans. He may lose some touches to Brian Robinson if he’s activated, but Gibson should see the majority of the goal line work for Washington, whose offense should bounce back significantly against a Titans D that pales in comparison to that of Philly and Dallas.
1. Derrick Henry first touchdown scorer (+480)
If the Commanders are good for one thing this season, it’s slow starts, so look for Tennessee to get on the board first Sunday. Henry is probably a safe bet to score at any point in the game and you can get him as an anytime TD scorer at -145.
Those aren’t favorable odds at all. Scared money doesn’t make money (that’s the slogan, right?), so let’s ride Henry to be the game’s first touchdown scorer. At +480 odds, you can win $480 by simply betting $100. Who’s hopping on?
