It’s the matchup almost no one has been looking forward to. Unless you’re holding out hope for a historic upset that serves little purpose in the big picture.

The Washington Redskins have lost four in a row, and at this point, it would almost serve them best if they simply kept on losing. But they’ll try to fight, at the very least, against a New England Patriots team that represents everything they aren’t.

Since the competition itself won’t be of particular interest, the most compelling storyline is this: When will the perpetual failure be enough for Dan Snyder to make a change? For the past few weeks, we’ve been speaking of Jay Gruden’s dwindling job security. But as of now, he still has a job as Washington’s head coach. Will another embarrassing home loss be enough to catalyze change? Or will the Redskins wander forward, with no long-term plan to recover?

Today’s game might give us the answer, but we’ve said that for two weeks now. Either way, it’ll be a game worth watching, solely for the potential implications. If you live in the local D.C. area, you’ll be able to watch it live on television. Otherwise, you still have live streaming options available online, including NFL Game Pass and FuboTV.
