The Redskins capped off their 2019 NFL Draft class with an edge rusher from the Big 12.

The Washington Redskins Day 3 performance in 2019 was fairly consistent. There were some decisions where better value could have been had, but Washington generally made level-headed decisions and added quality players at key positions of need.

In Round 4, the Redskins made perhaps their most controversial pick, selecting Stanford running back Bryce Love, and later in the same round, they chose Indiana offensive guard Wes Martin. In Round 5, the Redskins double-dipped on the interior line, picking Alabama lineman Ross Pierschbacher, and they then picked athletic linebacker Cole Holcomb.

If the middle realm of the draft was underwhelming, the way the Redskins closed it out compensated for it. Washington managed to luck into picking Kelvin Harmon in Round 6, and then with their first seventh-round pick, they chose James Madison cornerback Jimmy Moreland. Both players have the upside to contribute early for Washington, and both picks should provide excellent value.

With the final pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Redskins decided to add depth at a previous position of need, selecting Oklahoma State EDGE Jordan Brailford. After adding Montez Sweat in Round 1, the need at edge wasn’t as pressing, but depth could still be had, and with Brailford, that’s what they get. Here’s what I had to say about Brailford in my edge rushers big board article.

"Jordan Brailford tested well athletically at the NFL Combine, but that athleticism doesn’t show up as consistently on tape. Brailford, at 6-foot-3, 250, has good burst off the line, and can generate momentum quickly, but he doesn’t have the torso flexibility to bend past the edge, and he’s not nearly advanced enough with his adequate length to cultivate leverage for himself."

Brailford at least gives Washington some potential to work with, and this late in the draft, adding potential is one of the only things you can do. With Brailford, the Redskins close out their 2019 NFL Draft class. They added ten players; six on offense, and four on defense. What do you think about Washington’s draft haul?
