Rumors: Washington Redskins May Trade Into End Of First Round

The Washington Redskins are getting ready for the 2017 NFL Draft. They may look to trade back into the first round depending on some of the available prospects.

Not much is known about the 2017 NFL Draft. With just hours to go before the beginning, there are still numerous questions left unanswered. Who will be the first pick? When will a quarterback come off the board? Who will the Washington Redskins take? Nobody knows.

One thing that is known is that there will be a good deal of trades on draft day. There always is, but in this draft class there is a good chance that we will see slightly more than normal. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Redskins may look to move into the back of the first round to grab a player they have interest in:

Rapoport was responding to a tweet from Mike Garofolo, in which Garofolo stated that Bruce Allen saw Jabrill Peppers work out and had dinner with him last weekend. Peppers is a hybrid player from Michigan who is widely considered to be a potential fit at safety. While the Redskins have added help their this offseason, they still need depth to improve their overall defensive unit.

However, it would seem counter-intuitive to trade up for Peppers. He produced a diluted sample in a recent drug test, and that may push him into the early second round. The Redskins could move up to get him there if they wanted, and that would save them from overspending to get Peppers.

Of course, there is a chance that Peppers would not be the target. They could be interest in obtaining Adoree’ Jackson, an athletic corner who could be a top 25 pick. If they find the right partner, they could consider moving up to get him.

While the Redskins exact course of action is not known at this moment, they are definitely a team to keep an eye on in the late first round. They have 10 draft picks and should be able to freely move throughout the draft. We will keep you updated on the latest rumors as we hear them.
