Since we’re waiting for the Mooch bomb to drop, some more Super Bowl memories for you. Enjoy what is perhaps the most devastating quarter in Super Bowl history. On the first Timmy Smith TD, check out the blocking on the counter action. I love Samuels and Thomas and the gang, but we just can’t pull like that anymore. Also, I’d like to thank Clint Didier for all the memories. He was always one of my favorite players because he did the dirty work and never complained. For those too young to remember, Didier was like Mike Sellers but he got [...]

More Super Bowl Memories
How Did I Blow This?
Geeze, on the day I said nothing was happening for the Redskins, I almost blew the most important thing for the Rag of all time. Today, marks the 25th anniversary of the Redskins victory in Super Bowl XVII and the most famous run in Super Bowl history. Heck, there’s a picture of it on my banner, and I plum forgot. Without further ado, I present John Riggins destroying the will of the Miami Dolphins and making us all proud Redskins fans for life.
Long live Riggo, long live the Rag.
Super Bowl Ads I’d Like to See
For the first time in the history of the world, nothing is happening today. Not a single Redskins related thing happened. Nothing. I can’t even rip off my fellow bloggers. Most of them haven’t even posted today. Zippo.
Darn Super Bowl. I don’t even care who wins. I hate both teams. The only interesting thing might be the ads and they’ve sucked the last few years. So, on that note, I decided to talk about some ads I’d like to see this year. You know, commercials no one would ever have the guts to make, but they’d be great to watch. [...]
Mariucci Rumors True?
I have been ignoring Jason La Confora’s rumor mongering about Steve Mariucci being the next Skins coach, but I can’t ignore it anymore. I was watching the NFL Network’s coverage of media day today and Rich Eisen and Primetime and everybody were joking with Mooch that he has coached everywhere. Then, and here’s the big part, the following sentence was spoken by Sanders: “You’ve been everywhere. And you’re going somewhere else, too. As soon as we wrap on Sunday.”
The cameras were already off the guys and the music was playing. I don’t even think they thought their microphones were on. Mooch’s [...]
Staff Complete?
Len Pasquarelli of ESPN reported today that the Skins hired veteran coach Larry Brooks to be their defensive line coach. That’s sounds reasonable enough but check out this quote from the article:
“The pending addition of Brooks, which will be finalized shortly, essentially completes the revamped Washington staff, except for one glaring exception.”
The exception, of course, is head coach. But what is interesting (and welcome as far as I’m concerned) is that almost all of the best assistants under coach Gibbs’ tenure have apparently agreed to stay. A quick look at Redskins.com shows that Joe Bugel is still listed among the staff (with [...]
Bumbling Our Way to a Staff
You know, every time I go away for the weekend, the Skins do something. Whenever we’re bored and looking for Redskins news, I’m going to book a trip. Anyway, for those who missed it, we officially announced Jim Zorn and Greg Blache and fired Saunders and Williams. It also looks like Ron Meeks is the leading candidate for the job and that we will also interview Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels after the Super Bowl. OK, some thoughts in no particular order:
1) If you told me a month ago that we’d end up with [...]
Jim Zorn Coming?
It isn’t on the main page. You have to dig into the NFL headlines on ESPN, but they are saying Jim Zorn has agreed to be the new Redskins offensive coordinator despite the lack of head coach hiring. The contract is for three years according to sources.
There is no official announcement, and I wouldn’t expect one given that it is so late. Expect the traditional “a press conference is planned for Monday” kind of news though. And don’t be surprised if the press conference includes the hiring of Jim Fassel as well.
This article from the Washington Post mentioned one of [...]
Kissing Suzy Kolber has said it better than I possibly could. Please go there and bow down to the genius that is KSK. But come back, because I have more to say. And while not as funny, it is important.
And if you want a no less frantic, but perhaps more content oriented version of events go here and here at Hog’s Haven and here at the Curly R. Trust me. No cats were harmed in the making of the Curly R post. Again come back, there’s new stuff here, but you need to know that first.
Back? OK. You had most of [...]
Welcome to the OC, Jim Zorn
It was buried in the ESPN headlines today, but the Skins apparently interviewed former Seahawks QB (and current QB coach), Jim Zorn for the offensive coordinator position. The article stresses that he was interviewed without a head coach being hired.
What? Since when does a head coach not get to hire his OC? I know the Cowboys did it last year, but that’s part of the reason why they have a coaching controversy there now. Add that to the fact that we are clearly acting under the assumption that Al Saunders is not our OC, and things look out of control.
Zorn [...]
With a special tip of my toilet seat to Dan at the Landry Hat I present to you video evidence of the fall of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders from the best in the league to weird fetish girls. As you will see, the ladies got roped into some sort of “Pimp My Powder Room Contest.” While the Rag approves of HD TV in the bathroom (though seriously, why is it behind and to the left of the toilet? Aren’t we all going to want to watch it while on the toilet? Do neck cramps aid in preventing constipation?), doesn’t it [...]
