The battle for positioning in the Washington Commanders' wide receiver room is one of the hottest debates among the fan base. General manager Adam Peters has not pulled the trigger on another productive veteran as yet, and several young hopefuls have already begun to leave their mark at organized team activities.
This is precisely what the Commanders needed to see. Whether it stops Peters from signing someone like Brandon Aiyuk (when available) or Stefon Diggs is up for debate, but it's still raising optimism.
And there is also an undrafted free agent making enough waves to get people's attention during his early transition to the pros.
Commanders UDFA Jaden Bradley is already catching the eye at OTAs
Team writer Zach Selby pinpointed a moment at OTAs that shouldn't go overlooked by fans. Jaden Bradley has the size to be a force, and he knows it. When he secured an outstanding contested catch over veteran Antonio Hamilton Sr., there was one cheerleader above all else leading the celebrations.
It was none other than Terry McLaurin.
"Undrafted free agent Jaden Bradley made a contested catch over Antonio Hamilton Sr., and [Terry] McLaurin was the loudest person on the field cheering for him. "I told you the ball would find you!" McLaurin said after Bradley made the sideline grab."
If Bradley has McLaurin's attention, he's probably got the coaching staff's, too. While his task of making the 53-man roster remains steep, catching the eye early will only improve his chances of making a bold bid.
Bradley's college career got off to a very slow start. He spent two years in Pittsburgh, but found opportunities limited. Injuries prevented him from making an impact in Charlotte, and he transferred to Nevada after one year. After a modest first campaign, he took off in 2025 with 59 catches for 931 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
That was not enough to hear his name called during the 2026 NFL Draft, but the Commanders moved quickly to snap him up in undrafted free agency. Bradley only got $45,000 guaranteed, which suggests Washington isn't expecting much. However, this has given him an opening to force this issue.
It's early days, but he's making the most of it.
The challenges remain for Bradley. He's starting from the bottom and working his way up. Whatever he does might not be enough, but getting people to turn their heads was the opening objective. Now, it's about continuing to maximize the opportunities that come his way.
Nothing else will do.
Getting this sort of reaction from McLaurin will have been a bigger confidence boost to Bradley than you'd think. But make no mistake; what comes next is much more important.
