The Washington Commanders are still looking for another productive wide receiver to put opposite Terry McLaurin. General manager Adam Peters struck out on Alec Pierce and Romeo Doubs, but he'll have other possibilities in mind.
Brandon Aiyuk is the hot name. There is another wideout Peters knows well from the San Francisco 49ers who is still on the market.
It's surprising to see Jauan Jennings without a home. The wideout put up solid numbers again in 2025 while also reaching a new career high in touchdowns with nine. At almost 29, there could be a few good years left, but nobody has taken the plunge as yet.
Commanders could pounce on Jauan Jennings with no market buzz being built
Chris Simms of NBC Sports believes Jennings may have priced himself out of the market in the early stages of free agency. The Niners went in a different direction, signing perennial 1,000-yard receiver Mike Evans and Christian Kirk. It's also clearly putting off other teams from making a commitment.
"They thought he was a damn good player, but he’s overpriced himself here and he fit the system in what they did, but they obviously felt they couldn’t get something done with him to where they pivoted to Mike Evans.”
The Commanders don't have anyone with Jennings' size, speed, and red-zone efficiency. Even if they are waiting for Aiyuk, there are too many doubts not to add someone else. And his previous ties to Peters, who was part of the brain trust that drafted him in the seventh round out of Tennessee in 2020, could tip the scales in Washington's favor.
This is something Danny Rouhier of 106.7 The Fan is on board with. The analyst thought Jennings would be a good value if the Commanders could grab him on a one-year, prove-it deal. However, he also acknowledged how strange it is to see almost no buzz being built from his side of things since free agency commenced.
The NFL free agency scene is buzzing, yet Jauan Jennings remains surprisingly unattached. Given his demonstrated value, the lack of interest from teams, especially Washington, is baffling. What's holding back the pursuit of him? #NFLFreeAgency #Commanders pic.twitter.com/Fa54vxDuuE

Like Aiyuk, nobody will know more about Jennings, both on and off the field, than Peters. He's a notorious boundary-pusher, often leaving opposing players infuriated by his actions. Whether it was getting punched in a delicate area by Carolina Panthers safety Tre'von Moehrig after running his mouth or Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Shelby Harris' post-game tirade, he is not well-liked around the league.
That won't mean much to Peters. If he believes someone like Jennings can help the Commanders bounce back immediately, he won't hesitate to pull the trigger if the price is right. But if it's anything more than a short-term arrangement, Washington could look to someone a little younger.
It'll be interesting to see where Jennings ends up. Not being snapped up instantly was no doubt humbling. Whether it's enough for the price to come down is the big question nobody knows the answer to right now.
