Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered yet another extremely concerning elbow injury in the team's Week 2 road matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, and even Tom Brady could not his his shock and disgust live on air when watching it.
Brady let loose an expletive when "oh s***" slipped out during a replay of the Daniels injury. On a botched snap, Daniels tried to catch his falling body by steadying himself with his left arm, and it snapped forward with such ferocity that the elbow was bent out of place. Daniels was soon carted off the field with a towel over his head.
Daniels may be in line for yet another season mostly on the mend if the injury looked as bad as it appeared. Brady's initial reaction is likely not that different from that of many Commanders fans who were expecting Daniels to get back on track, as they had to recoil in horror watching their young quarterback go down in such a stunning way.

Daniels' injury was to the same left arm that cost him a good chunk of the 2025 season.
Daniels was in the middle of a solid first half when he suffered the injury, completing 11 of his 17 passes for 96 yards and running for 69 yards on just seven carries. Even though Washington's defense is continuing to let them down, Daniels was showing more signs that he is getting back to his Rookie of the Year form.
With Daniels out, Marcus Mariota will once again step in to pilot the Commanders' offense. In parts of two seasons with Washington, Mariota has put up a 93.4 passer rating by throwing 14 touchdown passes against just seven interceptions. Washington, however, is just 2-6 in games Mariota started.

Not only is losing Daniels going to take a massive bite out of what Washington is going to do on the offensive side of the ball, but they don't have the defensive infrastructure needed to counteract an offense that can't go shot-for-shot with some of the best teams in the league. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was not troubled in the least by Washington's secondary.
On top of the naturally gruesome nature of Daniels' injury, Brady's remark came from the knowledge that Washington placed an inodrinate amount of responsibility squarely on Daniels and his magical right arm this season, and the injury threatens to derail the plan for success this year.
