Excitement is building heading into the 2026 NFL Draft. The Washington Commanders have some important decisions to make, but general manager Adam Peters needs some good fortune at No 7 overall.
The Commanders don't have the ammunition to move up. They don't have second or fourth-round picks this year, so Peters' hands are tied to a certain extent. Couple this with the unpredictability at the top end with very few elite-level prospects, and it only raises the stakes.
Peters will be ready for anything. But there is surging momentum around one team in the top five taking what could arguably be Washington's dream prospect.
Commanders' hopes of landing Jeremiyah Love could be decided by the Titans
According to the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, the Tennessee Titans are now overwhelmingly favored to select Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love at No. 4 overall at -105 (bet $105 to win $100). Vegas thinks this might be a done deal, with the next-best options — edge rusher David Bailey and linebacker Sonny Styles — coming in at +600 and +650, respectively.
Washington is still being touted as the perfect landing spot for Love, even though that might be his floor. The Titans won't care about that, but their need to improve the defense could take priority when it counts.
Nobody knows for sure. Peters has admitted that on more than one occasion during the pre-draft process, and nobody is telling the truth right now. There are too many unknowns to say anything with certainty, but staying poised and trusting the evaluations is crucial.
FanDuel Sportsbook has Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate as Washington's most likely pick at No. 7. Love is second, with Styles, Mansoor Delane, Jordyn Tyson, Rueben Bain Jr., and Caleb Downs also high on the list. Some of those make more sense than others, but Peters won't hesitate to take the best prospect on his board and worry about the rest later.
Adding to the defense couldn't be dismissed. But one look at the supporting cast around quarterback Jayden Daniels makes the need for more clear. Whether Love will be available is anyone's guess, but Peters must do something to enhance the firepower around Washington's franchise player.
It's an anxious time for fans. They know Washington is light on high-end draft capital. They know how important it is to get the choice right at No. 7. This won't be lost on Peters, but the odds of Love being around don't look especially favorable right now.
Time will tell. However, there is nothing the Commanders can do but wait.
