Terry McLaurin's injury problems last season were just a small part of what went wrong for the Washington Commanders in 2025. The wide receiver didn't look like himself early and missed a lot of time. When he finally got back to something like his previous form, it was too late.
The Commanders will be relying upon McLaurin heavily once again next season, but there are growing murmurings about an uncertain future beyond the campaign. Washington could add to the receiver room through the draft and the remaining veteran pool, but nobody will be more integral than the former Ohio State product.
And he's been quick to remind people why.
Terry McLaurin sends subtle message to Commanders fans with impressive workout videos
With the Commanders now back in the building for the start of their voluntary offseason workout program, McLaurin got ahead of the game. The social media posts he put out offer reasons for encouragement, which showcase the sharpness and burst that were seldom seen last season.
Hopefully, this will be the start of things to come.
Much has been made about McLaurin's long contract standoff with the Commanders last summer. The wideout dug in, and general manager Adam Peters refused to budge. Some middle ground was eventually reached when the deal worked with Washington, but the drawn-out saga denied the pass-catcher the usual time with his teammates.
Mistakes were made. Peters learned his lesson, getting left tackle Laremy Tunsil's extension done with very few complications attached. And based on these videos, which were a not-so-subtle statement, indicate that McLaurin wants to make up for some lost time.

This will only help the Commanders. McLaurin isn't getting any younger — he'll be 31 early in the season — but the production shows no signs of slowing down just yet. He'll probably need more help, with a draft pick and possibly Brandon Aiyuk looming large, but he remains the alpha dog until further notice.
McLaurin has been at the heart of the team almost from the moment he was drafted as a third-round pick in 2019.
He put up exceptional numbers with a carousel of subpar quarterbacks. He took things to another level when Jayden Daniels arrived, earning second-team All-Pro honors and breaking the franchise record for single-season receiving touchdowns. Anything like that this time around, coupled with improved health, it's all systems go.
The Commanders need all their big hitters to step up in their quest to bounce back. That isn't being lost on McLaurin, who also has some increasing doubts to silence for the first time in his career.
That should provide all the motivation needed.
