Commanders vs. Eagles - Week 8

  • Date: Sunday, November 1
  • Time: 8:20 p.m. ET
  • Venue: Northwest Stadium
  • Channel: NBC

The Washington Commanders should be fresh and refocused coming off their bye week. It's a little earlier than they might have liked, but after everything that's happened so far, both players and coaches will no doubt welcome the chance to get away from the day-to-day grind.

Head coach Dan Quinn will speak with his coordinators and coaches about where things stand and what more might be needed. The Commanders also get a chance to strike a blow in the division when the Philadelphia Eagles come to town for Sunday Night Football.

This has a prime-time billing for now. Rumors suggest the game could be flexed, given the poor form of both teams. That's to be determined, but the need to dig deep for a priceless triumph cannot be overstated.

The Eagles have struggled in recent weeks. They are on a three-game skid and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against both the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars. Pressure is building on Nick Sirianni, but Washington cannot take them lightly.

Philadelphia has already beaten Washington once this season. They have a good record over the Commanders since Quinn took charge, and they will be confident doing it again.

  • Prediction: Win (2-4-1)

But with the Commanders fresh and with extra time to prepare, if they don't beat a divisional foe now, they never will.

Commanders vs. Rams - Week 9

  • Date: Sunday, November 8
  • Time: 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Venue: Northwest Stadium
  • Channel: FOX

The Los Angeles Rams were tabbed as a super-team heading into the season. Most analysts and sportsbooks had them as overwhelming favorites to win the Super Bowl, and rightfully so after a jaw-dropping offseason of recruitment and blockbuster trades.

But you still have to play the games.

The Rams have struggled to meet expectations so far. Their overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills puts them at 2-3, and head coach Sean McVay has made questionable decisions that are hurting his team.

Questions are now being asked. The Rams have gone all-in, and they are falling short so far. However, they are still supremely talented, and Los Angeles could have All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett back by this point.

This will be a game-changer.

The Commanders don't look well-matched with the Rams on paper. But they didn't match up well with the Seattle Seahawks either before toppling the defending champions. All the pressure will be on McVay, so playing with freedom and few expectations on their shoulders should serve them well.

That won't guarantee success, but it certainly won't hurt.

  • Prediction: Loss (2-5-1)

The Rams also have to navigate a cross-country game at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time, which can prove complicated. But unless the defense improves in the second half, it's hard to see anything but a Los Angeles win.
