3 teams Commanders need to call about a Chase Young trade
By Ryan Heckman
At 3-3, the Washington Commanders are no where near out of the playoff picture. But, that doesn't mean they cannot sell at this year's trade deadline.
One guy they are likely to be without next season is pass rusher Chase Young, whom did not receive his fifth-year option from Washington and will be playing elsewhere in 2024.
But, the Commanders could call around and try to find a home for him via trade, so that they get something in return for the former second overall pick. These three teams would be smart franchises to try and get involved with such a deal.
1. Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons are such a curious team. They are consistent in running the football, and Desmond Ridder has even shown up at times this year with a big performance or two. Defensively, though, is where they have shined the brightest. Currently the league's no. 4 overall defense in yards allowed, Atlanta's unit looks like a potential championship defense.
The problem, though, is when it comes to sacking the quarterback. Atlanta is third-to-last with 10 sacks on the year through Week 6, and Young would certainly help boost that number; at least, that would be the hope.
This would be a somewhat ironic trade if it happened soon, because the Commanders just took down the Falcons in Week 6 and held Young pretty much in check. If he came to Atlanta, though, he'd join a competitive defense in a division that's still wide open for the taking.
