How could the Washington Commanders fare over their next four games after suffering a demoralizing loss against the Buffalo Bills?

After a superb start to the season and untold hope under new ownership, the Washington Commanders were handed a large piece of humble pie in Week 3. The Buffalo Bills came into FedEx Field and completely overawed Ron Rivera's men from start to finish, which was a huge wake-up call for a team that was perhaps getting ideas above their current station.

While such a loss could have lingering effects long term, the Commanders still have plenty of football left in pursuit of achieving their overall objectives. We live in an age of overreactions and hot takes, but Washington can feel pretty good about how things have unfolded overall through three games despite some problem positions of concern.

Things could still go either way for the Commanders this season. Nobody is expecting them to mount a Super Bowl challenge - especially considering how they performed against a legitimate contender last time out - but a winning record or perhaps even securing a wildcard berth might be enough for Josh Harris' ownership group to keep faith with Rivera for another year.

With this in mind, we took a look at how the Commanders could fare over the next four games after their 2-1 start in 2023.

Commanders at Eagles - Week 4

Things don't get any easier for the Washington Commanders this weekend when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Lincoln Financial Field is notoriously hostile for any team, but it bears more significance considering the storied rivalry between the two NFC East adversaries.

The Commanders got a shocking victory at the Eagles last season, which is encouraging. But the defending NFC conference champions have picked up where they left off in 2022, boasting a ferocious running game and a defensive front that is among the league's best.

Prediction: Win (2-2)

It's hard to pick anything but a Philadelphia win based on how the Commanders performed last time out. However, they've shocked the NFL world at the same venue before and might be able to do so again providing Ron Rivera's men get off to a good start.
