Grading the Washington Commanders latest four moves in free agency, including the high-profile signing of linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Adam Peters has hit the ground running during his first recruitment period as Washington Commander general manager. He had rich financial assets at his disposal heading into free agency. The spending has been sensible during a flurry of activity, picking up a nice blend of youth and experience, and filling some key needs along the way.

This raises hope that the Commanders could be set for better fortunes in 2024 and beyond. Much more is needed - especially at the quarterback position - but most around the league are starting to look at the Commanders as a legitimate football operation for the first time in two decades.

Looking at how things unfolded during Dan Snyder's reign of terror, this was always going to be half the battle for Peters. He's on the right path to achieving this feat, but the front-office leader doesn't appear to be done just yet.

With that being said, we graded the latest four moves made by the Commanders, including the eye-popping arrival of linebacker Bobby Wagner from the Seattle Seahawks.

Commanders let Saahdiq Charles walk

The Washington Commanders expected big things from Saahdiiq Charles. Those in power at the time felt like they got a real steal with the former fourth-round pick out of LSU. Unfortunately, injuries and poor production meant this was another offensive line gamble that didn't pay off for recently departed head coach Ron Rivera.

Charles got countless chances to prove his worth from a starting role. Despite his impressive physical attributes, he couldn't find the consistency needed. It came as no surprise to see the Commanders let him walk in favor of the Tennessee Titans, where he signed a one-year deal reportedly worth $2.5 million.

Grade: A

The Commanders have moved in a different direction, and rightfully so. They cannot afford any weak links across their protection next season, especially if Adam Peters ends up taking a quarterback at No. 2 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft as most anticipate.
